Interact Club

No man is an island. The human species shines the brightest when they serve each other. Extending a helping hand to others and establishing relationship is the credo which the Interact Club members - interactors - live by.

Interact is a Rotary sponsored service club for young people aged 14 to 18 years. The programme gives students the scope to participate in fun and meaningful service projects while it helps in developing leadership skills. We will adopt various projects for the immediate community, society and nation at large.

In the year 2011-12, the journey began with a visit to 'Antaragram', a rehabilitation centre, specializing in treatment of mentally challenged patients, mostly from the economically backward community and drug addicts. The children participated in a discussion with psychiatrists, wherein their questions on the treatment procedure, family participation and counseling for their reinstatement to the society and their acceptance in the society at large after their absorption and the like were answered. This interface left a lasting impression on the minds of the interact members.

Another remarkable initiative launched, entitled 'Kolkata Learning Project', headed by Dr. Mrs. Shashi Panja created an opportunity for the Interact Club members to once more plunge into the social service drive. The children, the teachers of Apeejay School, and parents worked in tandem to make this project successful. The project entails teaching the children of KMC- North Range School, which is an Urdu Medium School.

Each One Teach One is an example of such an outstanding project of Apeejay Schools in Kolkata. This programme brings the learners of Apeejay Anand Children’s Library and the young scholars of Apeejay School together. Once a week the Apeejay School students don the garb, figuratively speaking, of teachers and guide the little ones through the world of English, Arithmetic, Hindi and Social Science.
