Annual Sports

Playing sports offers children more than just physical benefits. Sports typically help kids academically and socially as well. The benefits are the same whether or not a child excels at a sport enough to want to take it up as a future career. Research has found that kids who play sports, especially girls, are more likely to have a positive body image and higher self-esteem. They also are less likely to be overweight. Sports helps kids develop discipline. They learn to set goals and then work to achieve those goals. They learn that by working hard they can accomplish the things that they want to in their lives. Motor skills, strategic thinking, and even maths skills are learned by playing sports. Students develop strategic thinking as they figure out plays and the best way to get around a player or score a goal. Maths skills are used as they calculate scores and stats.

The annual sports day of Apeejay School is one event which students wait for with bated breath through the year. It is one of the best forums to unleash the energy and enthusiasm pent up in the students and also inculcate in them certain positive values such as team work and sportsman spirit. The annual sports hosted by Apeejay Schools, Kolkata, not only helps students put their best foot forward in exhibiting their talent and energy but also aims at bringing about a spiritual and social improvement among students by the display of Bratachari Movement, which is a comprehensive programme of physical, mental, and intellectual culture, based on folk traditions of physical exercise, art, dance, drama, music, singing and social service. The highlight of the annual sports day is the Peace Walk celebrating Global Citizenship which stressed on universal brotherhood for betterment of the human race.

This apart, the school also tries to sensitise its students about the need to be sensitive towards the lesser privileged children by organising a series of events for the children who are a part of the School's Apeejay Anand Library initiative.
